Deputy Director, Attorney

Jill Davies started at GHLA in 1984 and has served as deputy director since 1988. Attorney Davies is a national thought leader on issues of importance to family violence victims, including poverty, advocacy, and legal issues. Among her contributions to that field is the conception and advancement of victim-defined advocacy, including the Listen-Connect-Offer approach. Current work includes strategies to support trauma-informed legal representation and the development of resources on domestic violence, poverty, and advocacy – with the goal of making victims safer. She’s served as a consultant to the National Resource Center on Domestic Violence (NRC) and directed Building Comprehensive Solutions to Domestic Violence, an initiative of NRC in collaboration with GHLA. In addition to her administrative responsibilities as deputy director, she serves as a Cochair of GHLA’s Anti-discrimination, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee.

The author of numerous articles and materials regarding family violence, her writing and teaching encourages critical thinking and supports improved practice. She is co-author of the book, Domestic Violence Advocacy: Complex Lives/Difficult Choices, Sage (2014).
